I ♥ Author Visits
When author and reader meet on the page, imaginations flourish. When author and reader meet in person, possibilities flourish. Young and old alike are encouraged to imagine themselves as writers after a presentation by Kirby Larson. In addition to in-person school visits, Kirby is available for library programs, Author Festivals and conferences.
School Visits:
Interactive 45-minute presentations, including time for Q&A, provide a glimpse into where Kirby gets inspiration and ideas, her out-of-the-box research ideas, a chance for students to practice revision, her favorite writing tip and more. She has two programs, one for grades 1-3 with a nonfiction focus (using Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine and a Miracle as a mentor text) and one for grades 3 and up with emphasis on research and revision. Supplementary materials available upon request.
Virtual Visits:
Kirby’s virtual presentations include all the elements of her in-person visits (except the hugs and high fives!).
Virtual Q&A:
If your students have read one or more of Kirby’s books, your school is eligible for a free 15-minute Q&A. Slots are limited so inquire early.

Speaking Engagements:
Kirby is a frequent conference presenter and keynoter, and has spoken on topics ranging from Piecing Together the Past (writing historical fiction), to Odd Ducks and Divas (character development), to Get It Finished (overcoming writer’s block), as well as how books and libraries have shaped her writing journey.
