Teacher Tuesday

What an honor that THE Mr. Schu has agreed to play along with my Teacher Tuesday quiz. He is one amazing librarian and, along with the equally amazing Colby Sharp and Donalyn Miller, has created the Nerdy Book Club,  and forever changed the face of children’s literature. Love you, Mr. Schu!

So, please, fill in the blank: You should never read and (blank) at the same time.

You should never read and drive at the same time.  Well, you can read with your ears while you’re driving.

If you were invited to be on Oprah, what book would you bring for her to read?

Oh my goodness, that would be a dream come true, Kirby! I would put a copy of The One and Only Ivan in Oprah’s hands. I think she would connect with the characters and tell everyone she knows about Ivan, Stella, and sweet Ruby.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtPdqV2crQ0

What is the funniest book you’ve read?

Happy Birthday, Babymouse! is the funniest book I’ve read in a long time. People were looking at me strangely when I was reading it. I could not stop laughing out loud.

What is the saddest?

Gary Schmidt’s Orbiting Jupiter is the saddest book I’ve read this year. My heart still hurts from reading it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_CXIR6dqGU

Favorite reading snack/beverage?

Snack: G.H. Cretors’ Chicago Mix. Once I start eating it, I cannot stop

Beverage: Iced coffee or water

What’s next on your TBR list?

Paper Things by Jennifer Jacobson

Ruby on the Outside by Norah Raleigh Baskin
