Teacher Tuesday

Arika Dickens teaches in the Bellevue School District in Washington state, at Medina Elementary and is another one of the good sport teachers who responded to my plea for quiz participants on Twitter. She said it was fun — I bet you would enjoy it, too! You don’t have to be in the classroom to play along — anyone in education is welcome! I’d especially love to hear from custodians, lunch ladies, principals, even superintendents! You can contact me by clicking on that contact button just to the right above this post.

Here we go, Arika: Please fill in the blank: You should never read and (blank) at the same time.

I’m going to go serious here: you should never read and attempt to watch children in the pool at the same time.  As a longtime lifeguard, it doesn’t bode well.

If you were invited to be on Oprah, what book would you bring for her to read?

Ooh! Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson.  How awesome would it be to have Oprah sing its praises?!

doryWhat is the funniest book you’ve read?

The first that comes to mind is Dory Fantasmagory by Abby Hanlon.  It’s a repeat read in our house that causes laughter every single time – especially the scene in the doctor’s office!

What is the saddest?

John Gardiner’s Stone Fox.  I remember reading it for library school and was caught off-guard.  Many tissues were needed. Needless to say, I’ve never forgotten it.

Favorite reading snack/beverage?

I wish I could say some healthful snack, but that’s not my favorite.  The favorite reading snack is chips.  Love them, greasy fingers and all!

What’s next on your TBR list?

The TBR pile is never-ending!  Next, though, is Finding Serendipity by Angelica Banks.
