I unplugged a bit over the holidays and re-emerged from my “slumber” to discover that The Friendship Doll is one of the seven finalists for the Cybils Middle Grade Fiction award. This award was developed by the amazing children’s lit book blogger community. These people shoot from the hip which makes this honor very special.
It’s quite the list, too:
Tom Angleberger, Darth Paper Strikes Back
G.Neri, Ghetto Cowboy
Trent Reedy, Words in the Dust
Wendy Wan-Long Shang,The Great Wall of Lucy Wu
Elissa Brent Weissman, Nerd Camp
Lisa Yee, Warp Speed
I say we just arm-wrestle for the winner. Is that okay with you, Cybils judges?
Congrats, friend!!!! So deserved.
Congratulations, Kirby and yes! A death match…er arm wrestle…would be totally fitting! (Besides, think of the ratings if Miss Kanagawa were to take on Darth Paper, Lucy Wu, an entire camp of nerds, the cast of the original Star Trek Series and the Taliban–all inside a makeshift ghetto cowboy barn.)
Congratulations, Kirby! Hey – if you all do the arm-wrestle thing, can you make it a podcast or something or at least post it on YouTube? ;0)
Congrats! I am a big FRIENDSHIP DOLL fan:)Happy New Year!
Congratulation Kirby. I was so excited when I saw your name on the list. Here’s wishing you all the best.
Fantastic news, Kirby! Start lifting weights now. Well, one weight anyway. You only need to bulk up one arm to win! Hooray for 2012!
